St. Andrews University Location
St Andrews is Scotland's first university and the third oldest in the English speaking world, founded in 1413. Over six centuries it has established a reputation as one of Europe's leading and most distinctive centres for teaching and research.
Located on Scotland’s east coast, St Andrews offers much more than the home of golf, and is a vibrant place of social history, culture and entertainment, with a theatre, museums and a wide range of restaurants. A charming, picturesque royal burgh, the town is a place steeped in history, retaining many important historical sites and preserving the medieval layout of its town centre, as well as offering miles of unspoilt sandy beaches. St. Andrews is the perfect base from which to explore the wider Kingdom of Fife and the rest of Scotland.

Outside St Andrews the surrounding area is probably easiest to explore by car, but there's also some public transport. If you have a day or more to spare, there are plenty of interesting things within 40 mins drive, mostly of an outdoors kind (beaches, gardens, standing stones, etc.).
There are plenty of things to do a little further away. Edinburgh (about one hour away by public transport) will be hosting the largest arts festival in the world, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; and also the Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival, Edinburgh Military Tatoo, etc:
